Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for an end to Britain’s “sick note culture” in a speech last Friday detailing the Conservative Party’s planned welfare reforms.

Speaking at the Centre for Social Justice, Sunak said he “will never dismiss or downplay the illnesses people have,” but claimed that “over medicalising” hardship has kept people out of work, adding that ”good work” improves mental and physical health.
