As the world grapples with climate change, countries around the globe are developing new laws aimed at protecting workers from extreme heat, which can exacerbate existing health conditions and can cause heatstroke and even death.

While there is no global temperature standard for the workplace, the common theme in various laws seeking to address extreme heat is “Water. Rest. Shade”. Some go further, requiring action once the mercury hits a certain threshold temperature.
