Programme:

8:15 - 9:00 - Registration and welcome coffee

9:00 - 10:00 - Session 1: Prep for success: Being ready for internal investigations

From an increased focus on harassment and discrimination complaints, to a rise in unsanctioned remote work, mental health concerns, DEI issues, and trade secret risks, internal workplace investigations are evolving rapidly. This panel session will bring together legal experts to discuss the latest investigation trends, what they are observing in their practices, and what they anticipate for the coming year. The discussion will also provide actionable insights on how to better prepare for and manage investigations, ensuring compliance and minimising risks when a sensitive complaint arises.

10:00 - 10:30 - Coffee break

10:30 - 11:30 - Session 2: Plugging leaks: How to deal with a PR crisis

In the post-MeToo era, the confidentiality of internal investigations can be easily compromised, leading to serious legal, reputational, and operational consequences for large organisations. This panel session will explore the multifaceted challenges that arise when the details of a workplace investigation are leaked online and to the media. Legal professionals and crisis management experts will discuss the immediate legal, ethical and compliance implications following a leak, and provide insights on managing media relations and public perception should damaging information be made public.

11:30 - 12:30 - Session 3: A roadmap for change: Implementing recommendations

As employment lawyers know all too well, conducting an internal investigation is only the first step in addressing serious workplace issues. The real challenge lies in effectively implementing the investigation’s recommendations to protect workers and foster long lasting organisational change for the benefit of all stakeholders. This panel session will explore the best holistic practices for translating the findings of an internal investigation into actionable steps that not only address immediate concerns but also create a safer, more equitable, and compliant work environment in the long term.
