Employers in Chile are subject to new requirements to prevent and remedy workplace harassment, under new legislation that entered force on 1 August.

Officially known as Law No 21643, the legislation is more commonly referred to “Karin’s Law”, after Karin Salgado, a nurse who took her own life in 2019. Salgado, in her suicide note, described suffering persecution and hostility while working at Herminda Martín Hospital.
