Multinational employers should ensure staff are trained on China’s latest legislation following this summer’s arrest of at least seven AstraZeneca employees for alleged breaches of data privacy rules and the importation of an unlicensed liver cancer drug.

According to reports, all the past and present employees arrested were Chinese nationals, with most working in the British pharmaceutical giant’s marketing division.
