The professional footballers’ unions of England and France have launched a legal challenge to FIFA’s “unilateral” decision to launch an expanded Club World Cup next year.

England’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and France’s Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) are concerned for their members’ safety, arguing that the footballing calendar is too congested to safely include another international tournament.
