Following a surge of complaints, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has issued new guidance to employers about the data protection risks surrounding employees’ usage of AI-powered chatbots.

Specifically, the DPA warned against cases of data breaches caused by employees sharing the personal data of customers or clients with a chatbot, potentially providing the company behind the bot to gain unauthorised access to their private information.
