A worker accused of submitting fake sick notes has successfully challenged her dismissal before South Africa’s Labour Appeal Court after her employer failed to prove she was not ill. 

Lorain Maseko, who worked at the  Woolworths’ Emalahleni branch in Mpumalanga, submitted a sick note in 2018 from Dr Robert Yeboah Frempong. Shortly thereafter, a sister store at Highveld Mall became suspicious of medical certificates issued by the same physician.
