BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, and Volkswagen purchased parts from a blacklisted Chinese supplier linked with the abuse of Uyghur workers, a new congressional report has found, demonstrating the risk facing businesses that fail to uncover forced labour in their supply chains.

The two-year investigation published on Monday by the Senate Finance Committee discovered that all three European auto giants imported LAN transformers manufactured by Sichuan Jingweida Technology Group (JWD), a company added to the US forced-labour ban list in December 2023.
