Employees seeking to learn new skills and diversify their expertise will only see results if they truly become experts in their chosen new field, a study by Durham University Business School in the UK has found.

The research, which focused on the performance of financial analysts and their accuracy in giving forecasts, investigated whether the analysts performed better when concentrating on just one sector, or if pursuing a broader focus led to better results.
