Fulfilling a campaign pledge ahead of the November mid-term elections, President Joe Biden began the process of overhauling US drug policy earlier this month by pardoning thousands of simple marijuana possession convictions, called on state governors to do the same, and launched a review of how the drug is classified under federal law.
