An employment tribunal has found that British fashion retailer Next discriminated against female workers by paying store staff at a lower rate than warehouse workers.
The claim was filed by a group of 3,500 Next store staff in 2018, led by Next employee Helen Scarsbrook, who argued that it was sex discrimination that sales consultants, who were predominantly female, received lower hourly pay rates than largely male warehouse operatives, resulting in an average salary loss of more than £6,000 per year.
