Italian data protection agency Garante issued a €120,000 (£100,000) fine to a Peugeot car dealership last month over its unlawful use of biometric monitoring software.

The dealership, Cappello Giovanni & Figli, was using Infinity DMS, software that requires staff to record work performance and downtime for breaks and waiting times. The company also installed X-Face 380, a facial recognition system that regulated access to the workplace.
