The Taiwanese government has proposed stricter laws against sexual harassment, as the #MeToo movement reaches the country six years after it first hit the US.

In a briefing on Thursday, it was announced that the island’s gender equality laws will be reformed to introduce harsher penalties for perpetrators, lengthen the statute of limitations for filing complaints, and increase resources to support victims.
