Americans’ salaries may be rising, but US employers’ 2023 compensation budgets and salary projections are still expected to lag behind inflation, according to a new survey.

On average, businesses are increasing their total compensation budgets by 4.2% for 2023, compared to 3.8% in 2022, Mercer’s new US Compensation Planning Survey found.
