One of Africa’s most restrictive anti-LGBTQ+ bills, the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values (Bill) 2021, was passed in Accra in February. President Nana Akufo-Addo has not yet signed the bill into law as he awaits the outcome of two legal challenges before the nation’s Supreme Court.
