Lower payouts for laid-off workers who refused alternative jobs

Two laid-off employees who failed to cooperate with their employer’s efforts to find them suitable alternative employment have had their redundancy entitlements reduced in a recent Fair Work Commission decision.

Branch Manager Jessica Downing and Finance Application Processor Christine Reynolds were made redundant when Paymay, a subsidiary of loan provider Moneyplus, closed its branch in Balcatta, Western Australia in February 2024.
