Thirteen Republican state attorneys general have warned of legal action against the 100 largest US companies if they use race as a factor in hiring and employment practices. The warning follows the Supreme Court’s ruling that universities’ affirmative action programmes violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
