Trucking firm settles federal religious discrimination claim

A national logistics firm will pay $65,000 to settle a race and religion lawsuit filed by the Equal US Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the civil rights agency announced Thursday.

Wheeler Trucking subjected Charles R Lynch III, a Torah Observant employee at its Sheffield, Ohio, location to discrimination when it revoked his religious accommodation that would have allowed him to continue having Saturdays off to observe the Sabbath, the federal agency’s lawsuit alleged.
