As demonstrated by an actress who lost a role after the discovery of a Facebook post in which she discussed homosexuality, the expression of an employee’s religious beliefs can give rise to workplace conflict.

Religion or belief is one of the protected characteristics in the UK Equality Act, and it is therefore unlawful for employers to treat staff less favourably because of their religion or belief.
