UK’s workforce is sick and getting sicker, study finds

A new study has revealed that the cost of staff sickness in the UK reached more than £100bn in 2023, a £30bn increase from 2018.

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) warns that, compared with other advanced economies, the UK is “sick and getting sicker”, and that the country is the “literal sick man of Europe”.
